Waterfront Deck & Outdoor Living Space in Gig Harbor

Before & After

The Challenge
A waterfront Gig Harbor property had a 12-year-old pressure-treated deck that had weathered poorly in the salt air environment. Multiple deck boards were soft and unsafe, the ledger connection to the home had visible corrosion, and the railing system did not meet current IRC code. The homeowners also wanted an outdoor kitchen and a covered pergola to extend the usable season given Gig Harbor's marine climate.
Our Solution
Complete deck demolition and replacement with Trex Transcend composite decking in Tiki Torch — selected specifically for its resistance to the salt air and UV exposure typical of Gig Harbor waterfront properties. The deck was designed as a multi-level configuration: main level off the sliding door, with a lower entertainment level stepping toward the water. An outdoor kitchen station includes a 36" DCS grill, under-counter refrigerator, and marine-grade stainless cabinetry. An aluminum pergola with integrated motorized rain cover panels allows use in shoulder-season rain. LED landscape lighting from Kichler completes the system. Pierce County permit was managed by Repair Point.
